It’s a FWD system with a small transfer case, like other DSMs. I doubt that transfercase could handle 100% of the load even if you took of the front driveshafts and welded thecdnter diff.

Honestly, they’re not expensive to maintain. The VR4 was due various “features”, but the base models (like this) were very simple in design and easy to maintain. The drivetrain in them is very hearty and can take a lot of abuse.

Sadly, the BOC wannabes are exactly the types who bought them, then proceeded to beat them into oblivion.
